Both visual artists as well as musicians, the couple has a unique, all immersive approach to their music and art collaborations. Birds and Arrows latest album, Electric Bones, is a collection of thoughtful compositions, dynamic harmonies, and stellar vocal performances with a classic 70’s feel, reminiscent of Fleetwood Mac.
A lush combination of moody soundscapes, groove, and classic folk-rock, the collection as a whole is a wild ride through this longtime-married duo’s psyche while navigating the last few years of uncertainty during the pandemic .
Since their inception 16 years ago, Birds and Arrows–aka married artists Andrea and Pete Connolly–have taken their Southwestern-tinged folk-rock on tour across the USA.
Touring as a duo, often with special musical guests such Ben Nisbet of the Tucson Symphony, Robert Sledge of Ben Folds Five and Dirk Shumaker of Big Bad Voodoo Daddy, the couple is able to adapt to a variety of different performance spaces. They sound equally as lush in an intimate listening room as they do in a large rock club.
They’ve been featured on compilations with the likes of Wilco, Big Star, Yo La Tengo, and Whiskeytown.
And have shared the stage with bands like The Mountain Goats, Dr. Dog, Lisa Marie Presley, XIXA, Black Mountain, Orchestral Maneuvers in the Dark, and Big Star, and they were voted “Best Rock Band in Tucson” in 2021 by the readers of Tucson Weekly.
Their new album “Electric Bones” was released August 5th, 2022 on Hookworm Records
